Abstract

Type 2 diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors are a new class of drugs which were proved as an orally active and safe agent and have been used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.Monotherapy or combination with either metformin or pioglitazone is efficacious, well tolerated, and safe in clinical application. The mechanism, foreign development status, sales and domestic research progress of DPP-4 inhibitors are reviewed.
