Dynamic Analysis of Regional Land-Use/Cover Change Based on RS

Land-use/cover change(LUCC) in Taiyuan city is analyzed based on remote sensing(RS) images in 1990 and 2000.Geographical information system technology,mathematical statistic methods,and the dynamic model of land use are used to research the spatial-temporal pattern and the trend of LUCC.Some preliminary explorations of driving forces are carried out at the same time.From the study,the following conclusions are drawn: ① Cultivated land and woodland were two dominant land use types,however,the area of the two types was decreasing with time.The area of building land was increased dramatically,and the water area was equable correspondingly.② The region's land-use fragmentation index increased,especially those interlaced areas between cultivated land and grass land and between woodland and grass land.③ The building land had replaced the cultivated land,which is the most significant land use type. ④ The land-use state trended to fragmentation while the building land had a gathering trend in ten years.⑤ The pressure from the growth of population and economy,and accelerated process of urbanization were the main factors that changed the pattern of land use in studied area.
