Evaluation of loop electrosurgical excision procedure in treatment of cervical diseases in 131 cases

[Objective] To evaluate loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) in the treatment of cervical diseases. [Methods] One hundred and thirty-one patients with cervical diseases underwent LEEP in clinic of our hospital were analyzed retrospectively. 131 patients who were confirmed of cervical diseases(cervical erosion, cervical hypertrophy, polyp, CIN) by PAP smear and biopsy under colposcope received LEEP. The resected tissues were sent for pathological diagnosis. [Results] Histological diagnosis had discrepancy between biopsies directed by colposcope and LEEP specimens (P 0.05). After LEEP treatment, 131 patients were followed up and none was recurrent. [Conclusions] LEEP has the characteristics of low residual lesion ,low recurrence and high cure rate for the treatment of cervical diseases (polyp, hypertrophy, cervical erosion) and CIN. The LEEP operation is the best method in treating cervical pathological changes, and also the best method to prevent cervical cancer.
