Abstract
Objective To survey the present nutrition and feeding situation of children under 6 years old in rural areas of Liaocheng City.To investigate the main problems existed in their growing period so as to provide a basis for further drafting measures of nutrition amelioration. Methods According to the requirements of National Institute for Nutrition and Food Safety,China CDC,the project,Surveillance on Nutrition and Health Status of Children Under 6 Years Old in the Poor Areas of China,was conducted in 30 poverty counties(cities) of 13 provinces(autonomous regions) in 2008.303 children were enrolled in this study.Their heights and weights were measured.And questionnaire survey on feeding behaviors was conducted in the parents of these children. Results Rural infants aged 6-12 months were the high-risk population with malnutrition;moreover,long-term chronic malnutrition was the main problem.The prevalence of malnutrition in rural areas of Liaocheng was far less than the national level. Conclusions There exist unscientific and unreasonable problems in adding time,adding quality and quantity of infants' supplementary foods in rural areas of Liaocheng.
