The Influence of the Burning of Fireworks on Air Quality during the Lantern Festival in Beijing

Abstract

The concentration data of PM10,SO2,NOX,CO,O3 and relevant meteorological data were used to study the influence of on burning of fireworks air quality during the lantern festival(February 17th,2011) in Beijing.The results showed the concentrated burning of fireworks led to a sharp rise on PM10 and February 17th 19:00 to 18th 7:00 is the main influential time.The citywide supreme hour average concentration of PM10 is 469.3 μg/m3 at 17th 23:00,and the highest concentration of all monitoring points is 1307 μg/m3.The burning of fireworks has some influence on SO2,NOX,CO and has little influence on O3,and the influence on CO has certain hysteresis.The air quality of different monitoring points is different.Meteorological condition in Being is relatively good around lantern festival,The air pollution caused by fireworks can be eliminate quickly even the contribution of burning of fireworks is relatively higher on API.
