Epidemiological characteristic of student cases with pulmonary tuberculosis in Yinzhou district of Ningbo city 2005-2009

Objective To analyze the characteristics of the student cases with pulmonary tuberculosis,in order to provide the basis for tuberculosis prevention and control measures in school.Methods From 2005 to 2009,the information of student cases with pulmonary tuberculosis from the Tuberculosis Management Information System were analyzed by descriptive epidemiology.Results The proportion of student cases among the cases with pulmonary tuberculosis of the whole population increased greatly,the percentages were 1.25% in 2005 and 7.67% in 2009,respectively.Among the student cases,males were much more than females and most of them were 15-19 age groups with the average percentage of 66%.In terms of onset time,there was a peak in March,April,July and September.In addition,74.6% of student cases were detected through clinical consultation and the rate of medical delay was declined slowly year by year.Conclusion The epidemic situation of tuberculosis among students is serious,so stricter school control measures should be enhanced in future.
