Abstract

Objective To investigate the pathologic relation between anti-dsDNA antibody and lupus nephritis(LN). Methods Characteristics of renal biopsy and renal involvement of 46 systemic Lupus erythematosus patients with positive anti- dsDNA antibodies were compared to those of 37 SLE patients with negative anti-dsDNA antibodies. Results The percentage of WHO type Ⅲ and Ⅳ LN in the patients with anti-dsDNA antibody-positive is higher than that in the patients with anti-dsDNA antibody-negative (P0.05).WHO type Ⅲ and Ⅳ LN are usually active LN.More renal involvement is observed in the anti-dsDNA antibody-positive ones(P0.05) and the patients with higher anti-dsDNA antibody titer are more prone to renal involvement. Conclusion The anti-dsDNA antibody is a reliable parameter of LN activity.
