Abstract
The poet Li He went through sickness and political failures durning his short life time. The haze on his mind caused by those experiences are reflected in his poems in many ways.In a sense, the sharp shift of his style shows his fear for death. In his poem,Li He seeks and constructs the meaning of life, paints the wonderful fairy land to express his pursuit that is detached from this world, and shows his self-surpassing attitude towards life.Li He is not alone in his time, for there is the confucian school's doctrin of the mean in Tang people's idology and other Tang poets also aspire after such spiritual freedom.By reading Li He's poems,we can gain a deep insight into his view on life and death and thus understand the Tang people's interpretation on life and death.
