Effect of Direct Moxibustion on mRNA Expression of Matrix Metalloproteinases-2,9 in Artherosclerosis Plaques of Rabbits

Abstract

Object:To observe the effect of direct moxibustion to mRNA expression of matrix metalloproteinases-2,9(MMP-2,MMP-9)in artherosclerosis(AS) plaques of rabbits,to explore the effect of direct moxibustion to the stability of artherosclerosis plaques of rabbits.Method:60 New Zealand rabbits were randomly allocated to blank,model,direct moxibustion,western medicine groups.15 cases in each group.Expect blank group,the other groups were feeded by high-fat diet.The mRNA expression of MMP-2,MMP-9 in the atherosclerotic plaques of rabbits were detected by the method of in situ hybridization.Result:compared with model group,the expression of MMP-9 in direct moxibustion group and wesern medicine group had statistical significance(P0.05,P0.01);the expression of MMP-2 in wesern medicine group had statistical significance(P0.01);The expressions of MMP-2 in direct moxibustion group had not statistical significance(P0.05).Conclusion:direct moxibustion can reduce MMP-9 expression in the atherosclerotic rabbit.
