Abstract

Objective:To explore the difference of obesity and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in isolated systolic hypertension elderly people(ISHEP) with different gender.Method:A total of 144 subjects were inrolled to detect the weight, height, body mass index, waist circumference(WC) and hip circumference and Waist-Hip Ratio(WHR).Fasting peripheral venous blood samples were obtained to determine the level of hs-CRP in serum.Result:No significant differences were observed about the ratio of overweight and obesity in ISHEP between different genders. The proportion of the female whose WC was higher than 80 cm was 65.28% and that of WHR higher than 0.85 was 61.11%.While that of the male,WC was higher than 85 cm or WHR higher than 0.90 was 48.61% and 44.44%,respectively.The proportion of abdominal obesity of the female was significantly higher than that of the male.Forthermore,hs-CRP of the female was significantly higher than that of male.Only the WC of female influenced the level of hs-CRP.Conclusion:Inflammatory reaction may participate in the pathogenesis of isolated systolic hypertension of the female by abdominal obesity.
