Abstract
Otoacoustic emissions(OAEs)are sounds that originate in the cochlea and propagate through the middle ear and into the external ear canal.Transiently evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) is a type of OAE which is evoked by transient stimuli,such as click or toneburst.The potential advantages of TEOAEs of neonatal hearing screening are that:①noninvasive and do not require the attachment of electrodes;and ② specific to the peripheral auditory system,in particular outer hair cells.This review provides a brief introduction to TEOAEs and their applications in neonatal hearing screening.[WTHZ]
