Abstract

Objective To explore the the main risk factors in neonatal pneumothorax. Methods A retrospective study was conducted at the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University in 2286 neonates from Oct.2010 to Nov.2009,to analyze the risk factors in neonatal pneumothorax. Results The incidence of neonatal pneumothorax was 1.57% (36 /2286), Univariate analysis showed that cesarean section、gestational age、 neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS)、 pneumonia、 meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS)、 the newborn(TTN) and mechanical ventilation are the risk factors for neonatal pneumothorax (P 0.05);and logistic regression analysis further indicate that cesarean section、gestational age、NRDS、TTN、pneumonia and mechanical ventilation are the main risk factors for neonatal pneumothorax(OR 8.542、1.361、17.283、48.271、24.978、10.526,respectively; P 0.05). Conclusions The main risk factors for neonatal pneumothorax are cesarean section、gestational age、NRDS、TTN、pneumonia and mechanical ventilation.
