Abstract
Based on the characteristics of surface water pollution in Shanghai,the comprehensive water quality index,which is a new tool for water quality integrated assessment of surface water,is presented.The comprehensive water quality index can used to evaluate water quality qualitatively and judge compliance status of surface water.Also it can calculate the pollution load rate of different water indicators and screen the main pollution factors.The five evaluation parameters include dissolved oxygen(water temperature),permanganate index,BOD5,ammonia nitrogen,total phosphorus.The evaluation results can reflect the environment quality and pollution characteristics reasonable for urban water,which was mainly polluted by nitrogen and phosphorus.
