Comprehensive audiology examination and treatment of otitis media with effusion in children

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of comprehensive examination and treatment on children with otitis media with effusion.METHODS Retrospectively analysis were done on the clinical data of 208 cases(328 ears)of otitis media with effusion in children from January 2008 to December 2010 in our hospital.According to their etiology,patients were divided into 2 groups;130 cases(215 ears)with conservative treatment and 78 cases(113 ears)with surgical treatment according to cause of disease.RESULTS All cases were followed up for six months after treatment.201 cases(318 ears)were cured or improved with the total effective rate of 96.95%;7 cases(10 ears)were ineffective.CONCLUSION In children,many factors of nearby lesion could influence the prognosis of otitis media with effusion.Targeted the rapy with the guidance of comprehensive audiology examination of children of otitis media with effusion can reduce the repeated attacks and the lingering effects.
