Abstract

Forest certification is an effective approach to promote the connection of China's forest management to international practices and ultimately achieve sustainable management.This paper discussed the development of forest certification and its impacts on sustainable forest management.Through the case study of a certified forest management company in Jilin Province,the specific impact of forest certification on economy,society and environment were analyzed by comparing the differences before and after the certification as well as the differences between certified and non-certified operators.The results indicated that forest certification is environmentally feasible,socially beneficial and economically friendly,and can promote the sustainable management of forest.Some suggestions on forest certification practices were provided.
