Abstract

【Objective】 To investigate expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and microvesse1 density(MVD) in breast carcinoma and their relationship with lymph node metastasis.【Methods】 The expressions of VEGF protein and CD34 protein were examined in tissues of breast carcinoma by immunohistochemical ABC technique.Ninety two patients were divided into 2 groups. One group(A) involved 68 patients with lymph metastasis, and another(B) involved 24 individuals without lymph node metastasis.MVD was labeled by CD34 protein 【Results】 The rate and intensity of VEGF expression and MVD in Group A were significantly higher than those in Group B(P0.05).The correlation analysis indicated that expression of VEGF was positively related to MVD(r=0.6352).【Conclusion】 The data suggest that expression of VEGF play an important role in angiogenesis and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma.Detection of VEGF and MVD may be help for evaluating prognosis of breast carcinoma.
