Abstract
Graft copolymerization of acrylamide onto maize starch in inverse emulsion system was studied. The effects of reaction time, reaction temperature, initiator concentration, mass ratio of acrylamide monomer to starch and volume ratio of oil to water on the conversion of monomer, grafting percentage and grafting efficiency were investigated.By one-factor experiment, the optimum conditions were determined: reaction time 3 h,reaction temperature 50 ℃,initiator concentration 3.287mmol/L,mass ratio of acrylamide monomer to starch 1.5:1,volume ratio of oil to water 1.4:1.Under these conditions,starch-acrylamide copolymer could be prepared, and the monomer conversion, grafting percentage and grafting efficiency are 92.60%,54.06% and 79.41%,respectively.
