Abstract

Hu Shih is one of Chinese thinkers and scholars who have the most social influence in the 20th century,and his ideas have been one part of the Chinese nation's cultural heritage.As an important part of his ideas and learning,Hu Shih's ideas about religion and nation give us an important enlightenment.The attitude of Hu Shih to the religious problem is rational,and the method is pragmatic;but his national ideas are perceptual,patriotic and national.The tradition and modernity have always entangled in Hu Shih's religious and national ideas too.
