Abstract
With the Tropical Cyclone(TC) Yearbooks data from 1970 to 2001, statistical analyses were performed to study the climatic features of TC which made landfall on Chinese coastal area, including its landfall, sustaining, decay, transition, intensification and dissipation etc.. Results indicated that the durations of TC over land were quite different for variable landfall spots, increasing from Guangxi to Zhejiang northward. The most obvious decreasing of TC occurred in the first 12hr post landfall and the stronger the TC was,the more it decayed. The study also showed that some TCs could move to western Yunnan and northern Heilongjiang. Besides, Guangxi has the biggest TC dissipating rate compared with the other TC activity areas.
