Abstract

Interspecific hybridization was undertaken between lily cultivars from different hybrid groups, viz.'White Fox'from Longiflorum,'Conneticut King'from Asiatic,'Sorbonne'from Oriental and 'Royal Goden'from Trumpet,cut-style pollination method and embryo rescue technique were used to overcom hybridization barriers, and the hybrids were identified by genomic in situ hybridization(GISH).The results showed that cut-style pollination significantly increased the crossing efficiency except the LL×TT combination, the efficiency of embryo, embryo sac and ovule culture were 100%,22% and 1% respectively, and 9.6%,89.9% and 0.5% of the progeny were finally obtained.Genomic in situ hybridization indicated that all of them were the real hybrids. It can be concluded that embryo, embryo sac and ovule culture are efficient methods for overcoming interspecific hybridization barriers, without false hybrid mixture.Embryo sac culture is the predominant way to obtain hybrids.
