Anti-feeding effect of the extracts from flowers and leaves of Swietenia macrophylla on Spodoptera litura

Abstract
The anti-feeding and growth inhibition effects of the extracts from flowers and leaves of Swietenia macrophyl la using ethanol on Spodoptera litura were studied. The results showed that the anti-feeding effects of the two extracts on the 3rd and 5th instar larvae were very strong with a concentration of 50 μg/mg and decreased with a concentration of 10 μg/mg. The anti-feeding effects of these two extracts on the 3rd instar larvae was significantly higher than on the 5th instar larvae with a concentration of 25 μg/mg. The effect of flower extracts was higher than leave extracts.
