Abstract
This paper studied the bulk density,porosity and moisture contents in soils and their correlations in Eucalyptus plantations in Guangdong Province,and analyzed the effects of elevation,gradient and organic matter content on the above-mentioned properties.Results showed that total porosity,capillary water,total volume water and hygroscopic water in soil layer A were significantly higher than those in layer B,and soil bulk density in layer A was significantly lower than that in layer B(P0.05).The four regions in the province exhibited significant differences in bulk density,total porosity,non-capillary porosity and total volume moisture content in soil layer A.Significant correlations existed among all the studied soil physical properties,except that non-capillary porosity only had significant correlations with total moisture in layer A and with capillary porosity and capillary moisture in layer B.The regression equations between bulk density and capillary porosity,capillary water content and total volume water content were logarithmic,quadratic and exponential equations,respectively.Elevation and gradient had significant effects on the studied physical properties in layer A,but had no notable effects on layer B.Soil organic matter contents had significant influences on physical properties in both layers.
