Abstract
Objective To observe changes of serum resistin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, and to evaluate the clinical significance of serum resistin in type 2 diabetes. Methods The 100 type 2 diabetes patients were selected as T2DM group and 150 normal healthy people were chosen as control group. The fasting serum resistin levels in both groups were determined and the relationship between resistin levels and other biochemical metabolism were analyzed. Results Type 2 diabetes patient serum resistin level was significantly higher than that of healthy group(P0.05).In type 2 diabetes serum resistin levels were significantly positively correlated with the fasting blood glucose(FBG),fasting insulin(FIN),insulin resistance index(IRI).The multiple stepwise regression analysis revealed the levels of fasting blood sugar and insulin in type 2 diabetes cases were independently associated with serum resistin levels.ROC analysis showed detection of serum resistin levels was valuable for diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.cases.Conclusions Serum resistin level is associated with type 2 diabetes and it might be a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.Fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin were the independent factors associated with type 2 diabetes.Serum resistin might be a good indicator for diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
