Curriculum Is Resource: Probing into the Nature of Curriculum in the Information Age

In the context of informatization,it is a new view on the nature of curriculum to regard curriculum as resource.This view holds that curriculum is the total sum of all the information elements serving all-round development and life-long learning of the young generation.It mainly stresses the following three aspects: curriculum includes both the scientific elements and the liberal elements which are required for the socialization in the growth of young generation;curriculum provides not only the basic elements,but also the expansion elements,which are required for students' all-round development;curriculum includes the individualized elements required by students' life-long learning besides the stipulated elements required by the sustainable development of a country and nation.Compared with the already existing views on the nature of curriculum,the view thatcurriculum is resource indicates the richness of curriculum elements,emphasizes the inclusiveness of curriculum concepts,interprets the phenomenon of knowledge nourishing knowledge in the classroom,and makes striking the function and value curriculum has in promoting the individualized growth and life-long learning.
