Prevalence and influencing factors of HIV infection among participants in voluntary counseling and testing during 2008-2011 in Lianghe County,Yunnan Province

Objective To determine prevalence and influencing factors of HIV infection among participants in voluntary counseling and testing(VCT)in Lianghe County,Yunnan Province.Methods All VCT participants during 2008-2011 in Lianghe County were tested for HIV antibody.The prevalence and influencing factors of HIV infection were analyzed.Results There were 1452 VCT participants from 2008 to 2011,33 of them were HIV positive.The HIV prevalence was 2.3%.Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that males(OR=2.61,P0.01),living with HIV-positive spouses or sex partners(OR =17.90,P0.01)and injection drug users(OR=4.39,P0.01)were associated with HIV infection.Conclusion The HIV prevalence among VCT participants in Lianghe County in Yunnan Province was relatively high.VCT promotion should be strengthened among males,who living with HIV-positive spouses or sex partners and injection drug users to control HIV infection.
