Analysis on Malaria Data in Lipu County,1950-2009

[Objective] To evaluate the effect of malaria control in Lipu county.[Methods]Analysis was made on malaria data in 1950-2009.[Results]There were a total of 7 879 malaria cases from 1950 to 2009,with the annual incidence rate of 4.36/104.In which,local residents 7 718 cases,161 cases of floating population.213 903 were blood tested,positive for 292 cases(131 cases of local residents,the floating population 161),the average positive rate was 0.002%.In 1950s to 1960s,mainly clinically diagnosed,in 1980s,mainly microscopically diagnosed,no local malaria cases were reported since 1975.No malaria cases were reported in local residents and floating population since 2008.Plasmodium vivax malaria was detected in local malaria parasites.In 1990s,3 cases of falciparum malaria were detected from the patients returned from other provinces,and in 2006 Plasmodium falciparum was detected in one patient from Burma.[Conclusion]The current malaria epidemic has been effectively controlled in Lipu county.
