Abstract

In view of nitrate accumulation in Chinese chive production, the effects of soil and foliar spraying different kinds of inorganic sulfur with different treatment periods and concentrations on growth and nitrate accumulation of Chinese chive were studied. The results showed that the effects of inorganic sulfur on growth and nitrate accumulation of Chinese chive were remarkable, the nitrate contents of Chinese chives were significantly decreased 6.68%,24.27%,25.54% with soil application 12 g/m2 of NaHSO3 after harvesting 0 days and 10 days, foliar spraying 10 mmol/L NaHSO3 after harvesting 10 days;meanwihle, the activities of nitrate reductase(NR) were increased 11.86%,27.43%,37.03%;and all of the heights, fresh weights and the chlorophyll contents were higher than the control. Therefore, activity of NR was significantly increased by inorganic sulfur, while the nitrate reduction assimilation was promoted, nitrate accumulating into the vacuole of Chinese chives was reduced, the chlorophyll content of the blade of Chinese chive and the growth were improved.
