Abstract
This paper deals with the responsibility (R) to a pour point depressant, WHP, of various crude oils (26 totally) as influenced by their group composition. WHP is a tercopolymer of ethylene, vinylacetate, and a block polyetherized vinyl monomer. It is shown that the pour point depression efficiency of WHP for waxy crude oils gradually become worse as the wax content increases and is low when the carbon number of wax is high or the carbon numer distribution of wax is too narrow. It is concluded that the crude oil with wax content 2-15% and PP25℃ is strongly responsible, with wax content 15-30% and PP40℃-medium and with wax content 30% and PP40℃-weakly responsible to PPDs. The influence of resin and asphaltene on R varries differently depending upon their chemical structure.
