Abstract

Based on the data of air temperature obtained from 102 weather stations and DEM in Xingjiang, the mathematical models were developed by multiple variable regression and stepwise regression to study the relationship between monthly average air temperature and longitude、latitude、elevation.Model testing proved that the multiple regression models outperformed the stepwise regression models. Then based on GIS,the grid maps of monthly average were made by using the developed multiple regression models. It was found that the spatial distribution of the monthly average air temperature in Xinjiang appeared apparently consistent with that of sweel-and-swale topography and obviously seasonal variations, and there were apparent phenomena of temperature inversion and discontinuity of the strips of temperature inversion in the part of northern Xinjiang.
