Abstract

Objective To investigate the anatomic variants of hepatic arteries and its clinical influence on interventional therapy of hepatic carcinoma. Methods This article collects middle-late liver 385 cases retreated by hepatic arterial chemoembolization or hepatic artery embolization during January 2001 to December 2009 in our hospital X-ray department.385 cases with hepatic carcinoma were performed by hepatic angiography after the technology of Seldinger. The arterial phase images were analyzed according to the origin of hepatic artery and other anatomic characteristics of the distribution lines. Results The distribution of hepatic artery was showed 275 cases(71.4%) typical and 110 cases(28.6%) variation respectively.238 cases had simple hepatic arteries,147 cases had multiple feeding vessel. Conclusion It was obviously that the variations of hepatic artery were complex and common, and influenced the effect of interventional therapy of hepatic carcinoma.Arterioradiography should be performed carefully, once variant arteries were found, optimal selective catheteriation should be performed as soonly as possible. For the clinic familiar with the blood supply of liver cancer, recognizing anatomic variation of hepatic artery catheterization improved the cure rate and effect of interventional treatment of liver cancer.
