Laozi's Significance in the History of Chinese Literature

Laozi is of great importance during the whole history of Chinese philosophy.However,its literary value is seldom mentioned by the scholars in fields of literature and philosophy.As argued by Laozi himself,True words are never resplendent, many scholars insist on the historical misunderstanding in the book of Laozi that simplicity and navete are more important than beauty and resplendence.This article focuses on the argument of true words are never resplendent, and discusses the viewpoint of navete,the strategy of language,the reception of classics and the writing skills demonstrated in Laozi,in order to manifest its significance in the history of Chinese literature.
