A Review of Luxury Consumer Segmentation and Its Implications for Management

Abstract

Based on the rapid growth of global luxury market,marketing researchers focus more and more on luxury consumers. But all these researches should be based on luxury consumer segmentations. This study briefly reviews all the literatures about luxury consumer segmentations and summarizes new criteria for segmenting Chinese consumers based on two types of variables which are descriptive variables as well as behavioral and psychological variables for segmenting luxury consumers. This study is hopeful to be helpful for Chinese luxury researchers and managers of luxury firms.
