Abstract
Land surface temperature(LST) was retrieved in Nanjing city by using the inversion algorithm based on image,the spatial and temporal variation of the urban heat island effect was analyzed.The results showed that: ①there was obvious heat island effect in Nanjing city,heat island intensity was 1~3 level higher in urban as compared to suburbs;② the area of urban heat island increased obviously in Nanjing since 1988,and emerged trend of expansion to the south;③ on spaces,there was uneven distribution of heat island intensity,new urban became new center of the strong heat island.
