Abstract

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect and safety of piperacillin/tazobactam for the treatment of urinary tract infections.METHODS By the means of retrospective survey,156 of 210 patients were treated with piperacillin/tazobactam with the dose of 2.5g/q 12h(piperacillin 2.0g,tazobactam 0.5g) for 12 hours once;54 patients were treated with cefoperazone/sulbactam with the dose of 2.0g for 12 hours once. The therapeutic effect was judged through clinical research guideline principle and standard for new medicines by Ministry of Public Health.RESULTS The clinical effective rates of piperacillin/tazobactam and cefperazone/sulbactam for treatment of urinary tract infections were 87.18% and 87.04%,respectively;the bacterial clearance rates were respectively 86.55% and 86.84%;the differences were not statistically significant.CONCLUSION The clinical efficacy of piperacillin/tazobactam in the treatment of urinary tract infections is significant with good safety and economical benefits.
