THE OIL-GAS-BEARING STRATA AND THE STRUCTURAL FEATURES IN THE SONGLIAO BASIN,NE CHINA

Abstract

Stratigraphic features, including pre-Mesozoic basement and Mesozoic-Cenozoic covers, and boundary structures of the Songliao Basin are described in this paper. The fault system and its relation with hydrocarbon is discussed. The present study is focused on the regional tectonic settings, fault system, structure features of the Songliao Basin and the relation between the tectonic setting and the hydrocarbon accumulation. The results suggest that three hydrocarbon-bearing rocks and layers in the Songliao Basin were formed by the extension and strike-slip deformation during the Mesozoic-Cenozoic due to Paleo-Pacific subduction northwestward to the Eastern Asian continental margin.
