Abstract
Objective To study the application of MR angiography in displaying the access for hemodialysis.Materials and Methods MRA of 20 regions in 19 patients with vascular access for hemodialysis were performed. 2D TOF was adopted in all patients, while 2D PC in 9 patients. Two patients underwent conventional DSA.Results The entire access structure of 20 regions in 19 cases was well demonstrated on 2D TOF MRA. Stenosis of arteriovenous shunt was seen in 7 cases and occlusion in one. The arteries and veins of the access were clearly displayed on 2D PC MRA, but the shunt showed insufficiently. DSA confirmed the stenosis found on 2D TOF MRA in 2 cases. Conclusion 2D TOF MRA can well display all parts of the vascular access for hemodialysis and confirm the access failure.
