Abstract
Objective To investigate the inductive effect of capsaicin on human hepatoma HepG2 cells apoptosis and its possible mechanism. Methods HepG2 cells were treated with various concentrations of capsaicin, and the inhibitory rate of cell proliferation was measured by MTT at different time points, the apoptosis of cells were determined by TUNEL assay, the expression of Bcl-2,Bax and Bad proteins were detected by Western blotting. Results The proliferation of HepG2 cells was significantly inhibited following the increasing concentration and time lasting of capsaicin. The rate of apoptosis was significantly increased with a dose-dependent manner. The expression of Bax,Bad was up-regulated,but the expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated.Conclusion Capsaicin could inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of human hepatoma HepG2 cells, which may relate to the regulation of Bcl-2,Bax,Bad protein expression.
