Abstract

Objective To study the clinical significance of IL-6 and TNF-α levels in serum of the serious cases of HFMD caused by enterovirus 71 in children. Methods IL-6 and TNF-α were determined using ELISA in 30 cases with the serious cases of HFMD and 15 children saved as controls. Results The levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in serum were much higher than that of the controls(P 0.01).Conclusion IL-6 and TNF-α not only have anti-viral effect, but also involve in the pathological process in the serious cases of HFMD caused by enterovirus 71 in children.
