Abstract

This paper discusses how to simulate the timbre of a piano by computer,in order to meet the preschool education and teaching. The frequency spectrum model and the amplitude envelope model of piano timbre are built. The frequency spectrum characteristics of every keys are analyzed by one dimensional discrete cosine transform. And every overtone parameters act on the frequency spectrum model. The amplitude envelope parameters are obtained by analyzing the wave shape images of every keys. And they act on the amplitude envelope model. Then the piano timbre is generated. The experiments show that the simulating piano timbre created by this method can meet completely the teaching requirement. Compared with the method by recording the piano timbre, this method can greatly economize the resource costs.
