Abstract

Objective:To compare the effect of aripiprazole and risperidone on quality of life of schizophrenic patients. Method:Schizophrenic patients who were treated by aripiprazole (n=30) or risperidone (n=30) were evaluated with general quality of life inventory (GQOLI-74),positive and negative symptom scale (PANSS) and treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS) for 8 weeks. Results:The quality of life were improved in the schizophrenic patients who treated with aripiprazole or risperidone. There was significant difference in GQOLI-74 between two groups.Aripiprazole was significantly better than risperidone. Conclusion:Aripiprazole is beneficial to improve the quality of life in schizophrenic patients.
