Abstract
Along with the evolution of purchasing function,strategic purchasing has been adopted by more and more firms.The alignment of the purchasing strategy with the overall business strategy is a key factor for enterprises to promote the purchasing performance and gain the sustainable competitive advantage.There is no integrated research about how strategic purchasing influences the purchasing performance.Based on the relational view of the firm,this paper proposes that the strategic purchasing is an antecedent of supplier development practices and can create value for the buying firm in terms of the better purchasing performance.Hypothesis and theoretical model are tested using structural equation modeling through empirical research.
