Abstract

The inheritance of fertility of cytoplasmic male sterile system MI CMS, the allelism of fertility restorer genes and the cytoplasmic fertility in various restorers were studied by using the crosses of the double low male sterile line and its maintainer and restorers. The results were as follows. (1) the ratios of the number of male fertile (MF) plants to that of male sterile (MS) plants were 3∶1 in F 2 generation and 1∶1 in BC 1 generation which was consistent among different trials and crosses, indicating that there exited one pair of dominant fertility restoration gene for MI CMS; (2) the fertility restoration genes in three restorers for MI CMS (Ning R1, Ning R3 and Ning R4) were allelic; (3) the cytoplasm of Ning R1 and Ning R4 were male fertile, but that of Ning R2 and Ning R3 were male sterile.
