Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the content of total alkaloid in Kangfengtong Capsule with spectrophotography. METHOD Alkaloid was first turned into hydrochloric alkaloid, which was made to react with bromothymol blue, and the total alkaloid was then extracted using chloroform for determination. RESULT Spectrophotography is more reliable in determination of the total alkaloid in Kangtongfeng Capsule than HPLC method. CONCLUSION This method can serve as one of the methods in quality control for Kangtongfeng Capsule.
