Evaluation of the short period clinical responses after one-visit root canal filling and pulpectomy for infected permanent teeth

AIM:To evaluate the short period clinical responses after one-visit root canal filling and pulpectomy for infected permanent teeth.METHODS:Treatment records of 1100 teeth with acute or chronic pulpitis or chronic apical periodontitis were compared. 514 teeth were treated by debridement and instrumentation, followed by obturation at a second visit as control group. 586 teeth were treated by one-visit root canal filling as experimental group. The effects were evaluated through clinical observation.RESULTS:The ratio(%) of severe acute reaction in 1 week following root canal filling in control group and experimental group was 5.2%,5.1%,in anterior and 9.1%,10.0%, in postevior respectively ( P 0.05).CONCLUSION:One-visit root canal filling causes no more severe acute reaction compared with traditional method.
