The Impact of Active Development Tendency on the Urban Life Adaptation for New Citizens:The Mediating Effect of Social Support

The fast urbanization process in China has hastened a vast group of new citizens move from rural areas to urban places.Two key constructs,Active Development Tendency and the Urban Life Adaptation were constructed to explore a Structural Equation Modeling which tested the relation between Active Development Tendency and the Urban Life Adaptation,on condition that the social support acts as the mediating variable.This research adopted a two-stage sampling method,surveyed 322 new citizens of the different residence communities from the downtown,the suburbs,and the county towns of Chongqing withtwo self-made scales,Active Development Tendency Inventory and the Urban Life Adaptation Scale,and another ready-made scale The perceived social support scale(PSSS).The results showed that Active Development Tendency and the social supports have positive effects on the Urban Life Adaptation,and the partial mediating effect of Social Support between Active Development Tendency and the Urban Life Adaptation is prominent.
