Abstract

The α2-GP levels were measured by Laser turbidimeter in twentyeight cases of stomach cancer patients (17 male and 11 females) diagnosed by gastrofibro -scope and biopsy. It was found that the stomach cancer patients had higher serum α-GP level than normals (Po .01). the mormal range for α2-GP was 39-23; 23 among 28 cases (85.15%) of stomach cancer had a value higher than the high range (X±2SD) of the normal value and were defined as positive. Concomitantly, serum CEA was measured in 24 stomach cancer patients and 41 healthy controls. The normal range for C E A Was 12-5 ug/dl 14 among 24 cases (58%) of stomach cancer had a value higher than the normal range (x±2SD). In concession, α2-GP appeared to be more valuable than CEA in the diganosis of stomach cancer.
