Abstract

Based on the investigation of the growth status of open-pollination progenies from 90 families of 11-year-old seed orchard of Pinus massoniana in Zhangping Wuyi National Forest Farm, the comparison and variation analysis were applied to determine the family quality,to assess genetic parameters and to calculate genetic gain. The results indicated there was great significant difference among families in tree height,DBH,individual volume, therefore it had higher heritability.of the selected 11-year-old 28 families, the average tree height, average DBH,average individual volume was 11.7 m,15.0 cm,0.0991 m3,respectively,and the genetic gain was 3.3%,13.4%,31.8%,respectively.The excellent families were used to select elite trees,103 individuals, with average height 12.4 m,average DBH 17.7 cm and average individual volume 0.1440 m3,and the genetic gain was 4.7%,23.9% and 69.1%,respectively.This could obviously improve the yield of Pinus massoniana timber plantation.
