Abstract

Objective To compare clinical outcome between hypertensives and non-hypertensives complicated with acute coronary syndrome in PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) era. Methods Seventy-eight acute coronary syndrome patients entered this study, including forty-nine acute myocardial infarction patients and twenty-nine unstable angina patients. They were divided into two groups-hypertension (HT) group and non-hypertension (NHT) group, and there were forty-one (34 male patients and 7 female patients, aged 66.75±8.70 years) and thirty-seven patients(32 male patients and 5 female patients, aged 63.05±10.30 years) in each group respectively.Except incidence of chronic chestpain and right coronary disease, there were no significant difference between the two groups in clinical feature, heart function status and PCI results. We recorded recurrent angina, cardiac death, recurrent non-fatal myocardial infarction and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) after a period of six to fifty-four months follow-up. Results There were no significant difference between the two group in incidence of cardiac death, recurrent non-fatal myocardial infarction and MACE (P0.05),but incidence of recurrent angina was higher in NHT group(P0.05).Conclusions Acute coronary syndrome patients with hypertension could attain the same clinical results after PCI and aggressive medicine therapy.
