Abstract

Purpose To understand the manifestation of the temporal bone CT in the chronic otitis media (COM) and evaluate its clinical significance. Methods 101 cases of the COM taken from the materials of image of the CT were observed and analyzed according to anatomic abnormities. Results Among them, pneumatic types constitute 32.67% , diploetic types 27.22% , Sclerosing mastoid 23.76% and mixed types 13. 37% . The destruction of the ossicle chains tegmenta and auricular supraspur constitutes 37. 62%, 3.96% and 16.83% respectively. The high position of bulb of jugular, the antelocation and superficial of sigmoid sinus and low tegmenta constitutes 23. 76%, 14.85%, 1.98% and 5.94% respectively. Conclusions The temporal bone CT can show the focus of infection and anatomic abnormity from different angles, which is very important in the diagnosis and tympanoplasty.
