Abstract

Objective Through EMG and neuro-transmission speed determination for the patient of hyperthyroidism, the article explored clinical and EMG feature of chronic thyroid myopathy for the purpose of avoiding clinical misdiagnosis. Methods Totally 32cases were randomly picked from 2004 to 201l of the author's hospital. These patients were counciled for the history of nervous system and physical examination, undertaken the examination and analysis of biochemistry,CK,EMG and neuro-transmission.Results Totally 32 patients all had hyperthyroidism features; The rise of thyroid hormone and self-immune antibody, progressive myasthenia and amyotrophy. The most serious damage part was the pelvic girdle.Neostigmine test showed negative.Muscle degeneration, the degree of hyperthyroidism and the course of disease were positively related.EMG action potential time was obviously shortened, muscle biopsy pointed out the muscle damage. Conclusions The course of hyperthyroidism and order of severity were relevant to chronic myopathy.Once the hyperthyroidism was controlled, myasthenia and amyotrophy turned for the better.
